If you are struggling with unhelpful thinking and feelings CBT can help you to make sense of this and manage these in a different way empowering you to live a more fulfilled life!

About Me and My Approach

I have worked in many NHS services, both primary and secondary care settings, across England over the last 15 years. I now reside in the New Forest. I have always felt compelled to come back to the New Forest; the fresh air and open space works wonders for our mental health, and my Chinese SharPei (Mimi) would also agree!

As well as enjoying time spent outdoors, I enjoy spending my weekends with my family. This typically entails running after my toddler and driving him to all of his social events as he seemingly has a more active social calendar than his parents combined! Let’s not forget, a good book or film in the evenings to unwind.

In terms of ‘my approach,’ I am an optimistic and supportive therapist who provides CBT. I also use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) techniques alongside CBT. This approach helps individuals to be more flexible with their thoughts and feelings without judgement, and to remain in the present moment. ACT also explores values which are important to the individual and promotes living a life in-line with these values. It is an approach that can be incorporated into the therapy sessions. Therapy is both an insightful and empowering experience, and I thoroughly enjoy watching my clients develop skills and grow in confidence and capability.

I am experienced in a wide range of anxiety disorders and depression using CBT. My aim is to get to know you and gain an understanding of the difficulties you are experiencing. Together, we can make sense of what is maintaining your difficulties, and explore core values and expectations for therapy. Sessions will introduce techniques to help you to manage any difficulties related to your thoughts (cognitions) and the things you do (behaviours). I appreciate therapy can be exposing and daunting, especially when first starting treatment. I like to provide a welcoming and calming atmosphere in sessions, enabling you to feel at ease and comfortable. This can allow space for reflection and growth as you move towards emotional-wellbeing.

If you are struggling with unhelpful thinking and feelings, CBT can help you to make sense of this and manage these in a different way. Empowering you to live a more fulfilled life!
